The English Garden

After our time at Dachau we wanted to do something that would be a bit more uplifting. Following a few more recommendations from Scoob Will, we planned on visiting the English Garden and grabbing a bite at the Chinesischer Turm Bier Garden.

The English Garden is massive and sits on the Eastern side of the city. I read in Fodor's that it is larger than Central Park and Hyde Park. Not combined, but bigger than each on their own. We strolled in on the southwesternish side and strolled through woods and over rivers to get to the Beer Garden. It was a bit chilly but locals and tourists alike were out in force to drink HB, eat some amazing food and listen to the traditional band.

This Beer Garden is famous for the large "Chinese Tower" that serves at the centerpiece. It looked as if you could sit on the many levels of the tower, but the day we visited the upper tower was blocked off for the band.  We headed to the food area and grabbed a pork knuckle, a beefwurst, potato wedges w/ chive sour cream and some cheesy dumpling thing. We washed everything down with a liter each of Haufbrau.  We thoroughly enjoyed our selections.

Plenty full we headed back down to the southern edge of the park in hopes of catching the surfers that serve a perpetual wave created by a concrete depression in the river. Neither of us had seen anything like this in real life so we hung to watch and Ashley captured some solid footage.

At this point it had been a very long day with a good amount of walking. We decided it was time to head back to rest up for the day to come.
