Rest, Eat, Repeat

We woke up on Wednesday feeling very sluggish. It had been a lot of go go go the last few weeks and we needed a break. Ashely had scheduled an hour massage for herself that morning so I grabbed some coffee and zoned out for a while around the corner. After we met back up decided that we should take this day to recover. It was rainy out, so the decision was easy and neither of us protested.

We did manage to have two solid Czech meals.

Lunch was at Lokal where I had a Pork and Cabbage Goulash with potato dumplings and Ashley got the roasted chicken leg with steamed rice. Both were delicious. It was also here that we learned how seriously the Czechs take their beer. At the bottom of the menu were the names of the manger, the head chef and the person "responsible for the quality of the draught beer". Neither of us had seen something like that before.

Sort of side note, the beer here is delicious. The Pilsner was invented about an hour or so train ride away. Maybe it's mental because we have heard so much hype, but each glass has been delicious so far. A much cleaner, crisper taste than we are used to.

Dinner was at a mini chain called Kolvona. For those reading this in NYC, it's like a 5 Napkin Burger. Basically about five or six exist and they all churn out great solid dishes. Ashley went with the Cheeseburger & fries, while I went with the beef in cream sauce with whip cream and a cranberry relish. It was really good. A traditional Czech meal that seems to be at every restaurant. I know there are plenty of places that probably serve a better one that I had last night, but for the uninitiated, it was better than I imagined.

Thursday and Friday had more planned for us and we both agreed that we made a great call with how to spend a rainy day in Prague.
