The Journey Home

On July 29th we packed up our apartment (affectionately known as Narnia) on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and headed out of the city for good. Pulling away from West 83rd St that Wednesday was a sad moment for both of us, but there was also a lot of excitement as we set off on the start of our next Adventure.

We had lived and worked in New York City for 8+ years. During that time we worked hard, played hard, made some incredible friends and met the loves of our lives. To say the city was kind to us would be an understatement. However, it was time for us to move on to next chapter.

After loading up the UHaul (HUGE Thanks to the Dougs!), we headed through the Lincoln Tunnel to jump on the Jersey Turnpike and head to Severna Park, MD. With only a few minor scares along the way (DO NOT drive with a full propane tank in your car... the warning signs on the way in can create a lot of anxiety) we made the trip in about four and a half hours. We had made it to Jeff and Amanda's place in Arnold where we're staying for the next two nights. They prepared a great meal before sending us to bed early to prepare for the UHaul unload the next day.

Thursday morning was dedicated solely to unpacking the UHaul. We were able to fit everything we own into a 10'x10' storage unit after some solid real world Tetrising by Ashley.

By the time we finished, we beat a torrential downpour by the skin of our teeth. We were beyond excited to finally return the UHaul to the the BP Station before attempting to get some relaxation in prior to the impending feast at Joss Cafe and Sushi Bar (there is no better sushi in MD and a large portion of NYC than Joss. Not even a discussion).

After dinner we headed back to Jeff and Amanda's to rest up for the next leg of our Journey.
