Safe and sound, and a little wet.

We touched down in Barcelona at 7:09 am this morning with rainy skies. The Aerobus conveniently  dropped us off at Placa de Cataluyna which sits at the top of La Rambla.

La Rambla is Barcelona's best known promenade filled with outdoor cafes, newspaper kiosks, mimes, musicians and shops all on a beautiful tree lined street. We decided to make our way down La Rambla to La Boqueria which sheltered us from the rain for the next few hours.

We were memorized by Barcelona's open air food market.  The colors, the freshness of the food and quaint little bar restaurants filled the space of the old steel hangar which was built in 1840 by architect Francesco Daniel Molina. We moseyed around for a bit before grabbing a seat at Bar Boqueria for a coffee and quiche.

The rain finally gave way later that morning so we decided to continue our way down La Rambla to the Port.

Around 2pm it was time to check in at our airbnb which would then relieve us of our backpacks for the remainder of the day. The apartment was a short walk from La Rambla and right across the street from Fernando Botero's Cat on Rambla del Ravel!
