Eze towers above the coast and crowned with ramparts and the ruins of a medieval chateau. It has been described as the "eagles nest" because of its location overlooking a high cliff 427 meters above sea level. The village forms a circular pattern around the base of the castle.
We decided to go straight up to the top first, passing old buildings and narrow streets filled with small shops and restaurants along the way.
We arrived at Jardin Exotique de Monaco (known for its collection of cacti and succulents) to witness this breathtaking panorama view everyone was talking about... And man they were right!
We didn't do too much but just stand still and absorb the view.
We started our decent down as we had lunch reservations at Chateau de la Chevre d'Or (Chateau of the Golden Goa) at 1pm. Over a bottle of wine and some delicious dishes we continued to soak in the view Eze had to offer... with the only interruption of a huge red hornet trying to split the meal with us. Thankful the wait staff would come over every so often swat it like a baseball.
